This is a post I copied from a blog by Voddie Baucham, a pastor in Texas.
"As I have noted a number of times, I simply cannot comprehend why Christians (of any color) can support Barack Obama. As Robert George of Princeton University noted recently, “Barack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States.” In fact, George didn’t stop there. He went on to say: “[Obama] is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.”
Sadly, despite these facts, George observes that “there are Catholics and Evangelicals -even self-identified pro-life Catholics and Evangelicals- who aggressively promote Obama's candidacy and even declare him the preferred candidate from the pro-life point of view.” George’s piece is clear, passionate, well-written, and spot-on. He even makes the link between abortion and slavery that so few people are willing to acknowledge.
I think it is sad that both the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates have steered clear of the “life” issue (and the border issue, and the judges issue, and sodomy issue, etc., etc., etc.). There has been no real discussion of abortion, stem cell research, or euthanasia. Evidently, those of us who view these as important issues are in the extreme minority (or just don’t own media outlets). We have to stand in line behind people like the preacher who said to me, “I don’t care about abortion. That doesn’t concern me. I just want to see a black man in the White House.” Moreover, while the Republican Platform is clearly and vocally pro-life, the so-called conservative, pro-life candidates have chosen to give Senator Obama a pass on his blood-thirst. Everyone is screaming about Obama’s relationship with a terrorist who bombed a few buildings in the 1960’s (and he should answer for that), but what about the 3,600 unborn babies (on average) who are murdered every day in this country (disproportionately among minorities)? What about Mr. Obama’s insistence that that taxpayers be forced to pay for these assassinations of the unborn? Abortion rates have fallen slightly in recent years. However, the culture of death is no the march.
I’m grateful for voices like Robert George, and also for groups like Vorthos Forum (see the videos below). We need to be clear about what America is “choosing” in this election. This is what we have come to accept. This is what we are willing to do in the name of personal wealth and prosperity. Somewhere Margaret Sanger is rejoicing. Well.. maybe not. Watch these videos and pass them on. "
